What Is a Boxy Fit? (And Why We Chose It)

A boxy fit means a garment cut with wide, clean shoulders and a straight body that falls in a right angle rather than tapering to your waist. It reads relaxed and considered — never tight, never baggy. That's the short answer. Here's the longer one.

Where boxy fit comes from

The silhouette borrows from classic workwear and vintage athletic tees, where a straight cut gave room to move. Modern premium labels rediscovered it because it does something rare: it looks intentional on almost everyone, regardless of build.

Boxy fit vs oversized — not the same thing

Oversized usually means everything is scaled up. Boxy is more precise: the proportions are widened, but the length stays controlled and the shoulders stay clean. At Stori Studios we deliberately avoid extreme oversized. Our fit is boxy with intention — a premium drape, not a tent.

How to wear it

The top half is relaxed, so the bottom half should stay clean: straight or slightly loose trousers, never skinny. If you're between sizes and want more room, size up once — the straight body carries it well.

The Stori take

Our Essential Tee and the rest of Chapter 01 are built on this fit: 240gsm combed cotton, wide shoulders, straight silhouette, a considered drape.
